Research withthe fix attached.

At Torre, I conducted UX Research aimed towards making recruiting and job-seeking seamless. I took my work beyond the UX report, delivering wireframes, hi-fis, and technical suggestions to address user pain points.

01The problem

Where do job applications break?

The Torre landing page — the professional network for remote and flexible work

Torre connects hundreds of thousands of recruiters and 1 million job seekers in tech. My remit was to find out where that connection was breaking down before it ever got a chance to happen. After testing, I found my focus areas to be onboarding and product education.

I ran UX Research, conducting usability, value, and exploratory testing to find out what was causing friction, confusion, or distrust in users coming into an emerging recruiting platform.

02The (Road to the) Solution

A report nobody had to translate.

A Torre professional genome — reputation, signals, résumé and behavior side by side

Using the skillset I built in the 5 years spent working as a Freelancer, where I did UX research, design, and front-end development, I was able to provide solutions beyond the UX Reports:

Step 1
Usability, value and exploratory testing

Three tracks across the platform, each answering a different question about why people were or weren't getting through.

Step 2
UX reports with detailed conclusions

Written up with specific conclusions on how to address the feedback — not themes, but what to do.

Step 3
Wireframes, mockups, and technical suggestions

Possible design solutions integrated within the reports, with added technical notes for the developers on the team to help quick implementation.

Step 4
Adoption into the live product

Worked closely with the Lead Product Designer to get the changes into Torre's live product, presenting the solutions and seeing them through.

Step 5
Rinse, repeat

The work did not end in the delivered changes: further research and analysis was done to determine whether the solutions meaningfully moved the desired metrics, and iterated upon when needed.
